So I’m watching the debate preview on Chris Matthew’s show. He’s asked his guests to assume the roles of Obama and Romney. The chick playing Obama is the author of What’s Wrong With White People. The guy playing Romney is Michale Steele. <insert jokes here>
For the final week of #TripleandFriendsFridays I’m previewing a track from C.L.U.T.C.H. My Time features both fellow BNB and Red Cup Gang representa Young Rell and production by yours truly. After you enjoy the fuck out of this joint check out his site!
Ya’ll know the deal by now. Every Friday I’m dropping a collab track. Week 4 I’m givin you a joint I produced that features myself and “new south representa” Fleetwood DeVille. “Dirtbag Music” is so crazy I had to break it up into two parts. Make sure you check for the homie 330 on Part 2 next month on The C.L.UT.C.H. Mixtape.
If you didn’t know it already, I make beats, of the hip-hop variety. Some have called them dope, while others have called them garbage…all feedback that young producers and beatmakers should expect. Like many other young producers, I’ve made my way through the showcase circuit, head to head battles, web match-ups etc. The main thing I noticed was that although the promoters/organizers would advertise their events as “a great way to sell your beats”, very few actually would. I thought to myself, there must be a better way to showcase beats while getting producers to connect with the audience…which are usually made up entirely of rappers.
Fast-forward a few months…
I was blazing and watching a Storage Wars marathon. For those who are unfamiliar with the premise of the show, it’s a reality program where pawn shop owners and junk collectors travel to different storage units and bid on people’s unclaimed crap. Then it hit me: “Rappers should bid on beats.” Over the next few weeks, I brainstormed and came up with the format and rules. Thus, The Beat Auction was born!
Join us tomorrow, August 24th, 2012 when we attempt to make history. We’re giving some very dope DC/Baltimore producers the opportunity to sell their beats to artists who need them. It’s going down at Art Under Pressure (4807 Georgia Ave NW Washington DC). Show starts at 8pm. See ya there!
